2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, Seven Hills Vineyard, Walla Walla Valley
This wine is drawn from the original Cabernet Sauvignon blocks at Seven Hills Vineyard, planted by my father in 1980. This vintage
marks the 28th year I have been making Cabernet Sauvignon from these same, precious old vines.
2015 was a very warm vintage, marked by severe heat during veraison, stunting berry growth and resulting in very small berries which
produced a firm tannin structure to frame rich fruit density. This old vine Cabernet has a dark garnet gem color and a generous nose of black currant, cherry, spice, desert herb and white pepper. The palate is plush and mouth filling, yet framed with silky, fine-grained tannins and lifting acidity. It has flavors of black cherry, coffee bean, herb, tobacco leaf and spice. This wine will improve signifi cantly with cellaring over the first five years and will hold nicely and continue to develop for ten or more years from vintage.
